Mid to Late Adolescence

Issue

The complex issues of gang violence require a shared understanding and collaborative action of community, municipal, provincial, federal and aboriginal governments.

Goals

Encourage community groups, non-profit societies and governments to develop policies (ways of doing things), supports and services that promote positive youth development as a means for preventing gang violence as well as those that support the intervention and suppression of gang violence

Key Strategies

Identify and share screening and assessment tools for identifying youth in need of attention and intervention.

Identify and share information about programs that exist in the community that can help intervene and promote healthy development and positive relationships.

Identify and share practice strategies for building supportive relationships and opportunities with and around youth.

Identify and share policy and resource requirements needed to support these programs and practices.

Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises.
