Issue
Children who associate with anti-social peers are drawn away from pro-social interactions and experiences that support positive development. Their developing sense of industry and competency, connectedness to others and sense of identity is more likely to be shaped by the anti-social values and beliefs of deviant peers.
Goals
Develop interventions that enable adolescents to see and experience ways to meet their needs through pro-social interactions and activities.
Provide information to families, schools, organizations and community groups on the services and resources available that promote healthy development and positive relationships.
Key Strategies
Identify and share screening and assessment tools for identifying youth in need of attention and intervention.
Identify and share information about programs that exist in the community that can help intervene and promote healthy development and positive relationships.
Identify and share practice strategies for building supportive relationships and opportunities with and around youth.
Identify and share policy and resource requirements needed to support these programs and practices.
